If you travel in your own or a rented aircraft, there is a 1400 metre runway only about 15-17kms away from our hotel.

By Car

We strongly recommend that you rent a car at Keflavik airport and drive one of the magnificent routes from Keflavik airport to our location in the Western Fjords.

Direct via Buðardalur

Leave Reykjavik on Route 1 north to Akureyri. Go via Mosfellsbær and Borgarnes and follow the signs towards Akureyri.

Do not take the left turn just after Borgarnes towards Stykkisholmur UNLESS you intend to take the ferry to Breidarfjordur. See below for details of that route.

Continue towards Akureyri until you see a sign marked Budardalur and Patreksfjordur. There you take a left turn onto Route 60. Continue onto and through Buðardalur and then later drive over a bridged fjord. You are now in the Western fjords. Drive along the fjords and over the passes staying on Route 60 until you reach Flokalundur where you turn onto Route 62. In good weather conditions this route offer stunning views. Please make sure to stop on the way in one of the beautiful remote fjords where nobody lives and enjoy the silence and magnificent nature.

As you come down the Kleifaheidi Pass you will be approaching Patreksfjordur. Before you get there, take the left turn onto Route 612 towards Latrabjarg. From there it is about 20 minutes to the hotel. You will pass the Hnjotur museum and take a right on the next crossing at Geitagil. From there you drive 3KM and see us on your left after passing the farm Efri Tunga and Nedri Tunga.

The total journey is 429 kilometres (270 miles).

By Ferry

The ferry route is shorter (244 kilometres on the road - 152 miles) but there are limited sailings so you may need an overnight stay in Stykkisholmur. See below for details of the ferry crossing.

Leave Reykjavik on Route 1 north to Akureyri. Take the left turn to Stykkisholmur, just after Borgarnes.

After the ferry crossing, head west and follow Routes 62 and 612.

As you come down the Kleifaheiði Pass you will be approaching Patreksfjörður. Before you get there, take the left turn on a crossing towards Látrabjarg. From there it is about 20 minutes to the hotel. You will pass the Hnjotur museum and take a right on the next crossing at Geitagil. From there you drive 3KM and see us on your left after passing the farm Efri Tunga and Nedri Tunga.
